Dibble Optical Supplies was borne from a desire to serve the UK optical market with a personalised and friendly service from knowledgeable members of staff. It is an independent business whose actions are determined solely from the needs of its customers. The company was formed by industry veteran and current Chairman of the FMO, Barry Dibble, who had previously held Chief Executive positions at Buchmann UK and Rodenstock UK. The other key contacts in the business are operations manager Jackie Smith, formerly responsible for B&S at the previous agent, and Barry’s son and fellow director Adam.

B&S are a long-established German company, having been founded more than 80 years ago in Rathenow. Today they are Europe’s leading supplier of quality optical consumables, tooling and small machinery for opticians and ophthalmic laboratories. Now the term “quality products” is probably one of the most over-used phrases in marketing terminology but with B&S their whole company ethos is built around those two words. It’s even referred to in their logo as “Quality Made” and it’s not a promise, it’s a guarantee – reinforced by three years warranty on small tools and ten years on pliers. This is an ethos shared completely by Dibble Optical Supplies and the standards upon which the company will be based.

The two B&S catalogues contain literally thousands of items that are aimed at all areas of the optical retail and lab businesses. The comprehensive blue Workshop Catalogue is currently the larger of the two and is focussed on the optical workshop and dispensing functions of the business. The yellow “shoptic” Catalogue is primarily aimed at consumer-related items such as glazeable sports frames, prescription swim wear, reading spectacles, cleaning products and safety eyewear. Both catalogues are intuitively presented to allow customers to choose their products easily.

Dibble Optical Supplies reside in a modern technology centre based in the thriving Medway Towns in Kent. Although having the benefit of daily deliveries from Germany, they have their own warehouse where all commonly-used products are kept in stock for same-day despatch on all orders received prior to 15:30.
